Based on German artist Karl Blossfeldt whose black and white close-ups of plants and flowers set a new standard in botanical photography. Taking his abstract, slightly surreal forms, Gala Fernández has created a collection of nine vases in felt and marble for Mexican felt specialists Feltum. Intricate, hand stitched petals and leaves in grey felt curl around black and white marble cylinders. Feltum's mission is to reinvent wool felt as an architectural material, and Fernández's felt petals make a surprisingly durable and tough argument for it. And like everything else that comes out of the PioPio studio, they are all hand made in Mexico.

We are passionate about design, architecture and art.
Since we launched we ve been fortunate to attract talented designers, artists and architects with whom we have teamed up and have created diverse collections of CONTEMPORARY FELTWORKS
Whether you need a custom installation or mass production, we can help. We are experts in producing clean and accurate cuts in felt, and in fabricating a wide variety of products including industrial parts, handbags, tabletop items, lighting, and more.
CNC CUTTING Our CNC cutters use a vector line (Illustrator, DWG,DXF) to cut almost any shape, no matter how complex. If you are not able to produce the proper digital drawing we can create it for you from hand drawings or photographs. We have no minimum quantity and are happy to work on prototypes and samples. We can also cut large quantities too, if die cutting is not an option for your project.
DIE CUTTING Die cutting is the fastest and most economical way to cut felt parts, and produces a razor sharp and clean cut. A custom die (cutting blade) is necessary for each shape you need cut, but the upfront costs are less than you might think.Starting at $25 USD. Both wool and PLANT felt die cut very well. While we have no strict minimum order, die cutting is best for runs of at least 200 pieces per shape.
SEWING We have the capacity for large-scale production sewing of a variety of goods including handbags, tabletop items, pillows, lighting, and technical products. We can also rivet and install grommets or snaps. If you are working on a one of a kind installation or interior project, we can help develop the best way to attach or hang your felt pieces. Please let us know what you have in mind.
GLUEING We teamed up with Catalik, a company that has develop custom made Glues for our projects.
